Privacy – Pizza Dough Yeast Calculator

This section covers the data collected by the pizza dough yeast calculator tool on this site (the thumbs-up/thumbs-down feedback widget and the email sign-up field). It doesn’t cover the rest of Gigio’s website — see the main privacy policy for that.

Who’s responsible for this data

Gigio Attanasio is the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at privacy+pizzacraic.ie ( a t ) gmail.com with any question or request about your data.

What we collect

  • Whether you found the tool helpful (a simple yes/no)
  • If you say no, which reasons you checked and anything you typed in the “something else” box
  • Your email address, only if you choose to give it — it’s never required to use the calculator or to vote
  • Whether you ticked the box to also receive occasional emails about live sessions
  • The settings you had on the calculator at the time (flour or dough-ball mode, yeast type, units, temperature, hydration, fermentation time, and the resulting yeast amount) — this helps us understand what’s actually being used, not identify you
  • If you arrived from a specific link or ad, the campaign tags in that link (e.g. which ad or newsletter sent you)

We do not store your IP address. It’s used for a moment, in memory, only to stop automated spam (capping how many submissions come from the same connection per hour), and is never written to our database.

Why we collect it, and on what basis

We use this data for two separate purposes, and we only use your email for the one you actually agreed to:

  1. Replying to your feedback. If you leave an email with your vote or your “something else” note, we use it only to get back to you about that. Legal basis: your consent, given by voluntarily entering your email for that stated purpose.
  2. Telling you about live sessions. Only if you separately ticked that box. Legal basis: your explicit, opt-in consent — unticked by default, and you can withdraw it at any time (see below).

The vote itself and the calculator settings, when no email is attached, don’t identify you. We use this anonymous data on the basis of our legitimate interest in understanding whether the tool is useful and where it falls short.

How long we keep it

We keep feedback and email records for up to 24 months from the date you submit them, then delete them. If you ask us to delete your data sooner, we do that instead (see below).

Your rights

You can ask us, at any time, to:

  • tell you what data we hold about you,
  • correct it if it’s wrong,
  • delete it,
  • or withdraw your consent to the live-sessions emails (every email we send has an unsubscribe link, or just email us).

To do any of this, write to privacy+pizzacraic.ie ( a t ) gmail.com. We’ll only need your email address to find and act on your record.

If you’re not satisfied with our answer, you can also complain to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie), the supervisory authority in Ireland.
